From time to time you may be forced into changing your password due to restrictions enforced by a security policy, this means that the credentials you may have saved for an RDP connection will be outdated.
Note: The most common reason you would want to do this is if you are logging on to the remote machine using an account local to that machine. If you are part of a domain you will probably never need to do this.

Press the Win + R keyboard combination to bring up a run box, then type mstsc and press enter.
You should then see the Remote Desktop Connection dialog open where you can go ahead and click on Show Options.
You will then need to select the remote machine from the drop down list.
If you have saved credentials for that machine, you will then be able to click on the edit hyperlink.
That’s all there is to it, you simply have to update your credentials and you are good to go.
Its worth noting that under the hood, the Remote Desktop client is really storing your credentials in the Windows Credential Vault.
